Vincent Lamar Carter, born in Daytona Beach, Florida on January 26, 1977. Carter was a McDonald's All-American player in 1995 out of Mainland High School in Daytona Beach. He attended the University of North Carolina from 1995 to 1998, averaging just 12.3 PPG. Carter entered the NBA after his junior year at UNC in 1998 and was the 5th pick by the Golden State Warriors. Later that same night, Carter was traded for his UNC teammate, Antawn Jamison, who had been drafted #3 by the Toronto Raptors. Carter enjoyed tremendous popularity during his first several years in the NBA, especially after showcasing his athletic abilities in the 2000 All-Star Slam Dunk Contest.. Vince took home the 2000 Slam Dunk trophy with an array of dazzling dunks which many agree revitalized the contest briefly. Vince played alongside his second cousin, Tracy McGrady, in Toronto for several years as well.

Vince played for the Toronto Raptors from 1998 to 2004 and took them to new heights as he helped the team to three playoff berths. He was admist controvery for deciding to take part in his college graduation ceremony on the eve/day of an important game 7 in May of 2001. One the day he returned from his ceremony, Carter missed the game-winning shot in this series which would have sent the Raptors to the NBA Finals. Carter was part of a blockbuster trade in the 2004-05 season between the New Jersey Nets and the Toronto Raptors. The Nets sent the Raptors 5 players in exchange for Carter, who many said was not playing at his fullest potential for Toronto.

Until 2006 Carter had perennially topped All-Star team voting. Vince was also part of Team USA in 2000 in Sydney, Australia, where the team took home the Gold Medal. Vince had what many consider the all-time greatest basketball dunk, when he jumped over 7'2 Center Frederic Weis from France. The French media later dubbed it "le dunk de la mort" ("the Dunk of Death"). Carter continues to provide highlight plays and dunks night in and night out.

Carter currently plays for the New Jersey Nets and wears #15. He has a charitable foundation "The Embassy of Hope" and is a spokesperson for Gatorade, Nike and T-Mobile. Nicknames Carter has donned are "Half Man, Half Amazing", "VC15", "Air Canada" and "Vinsanity.
